How do I change my printer settings so my Department ID auto-fills into the printer dialog box?

1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Devices and Printers.
3. Left-click on the printer icon that represents the printer you would like to set-up and then right-click on Printer Properties.
4. Click the Device Settings tab.
5. Click on the Settings... button.
Note:  Make sure you are clicking the Settings... button located next to Department ID Management and not the Settings(W)... button located directly below it.
6. Enter the Department ID (the code that you also enter into the copier to make a copy) into the Department ID box and click OK.
7. Click Apply then OK.

8. Close the Devices and Printers window by clicking on the X in the top right corner.

How do I change my printer settings for color to black and white printing?

  1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
  1. Click Devices and Printers.
  1. Left-click on the printer icon that represents the printer you would like to set-up and then right-click on Printing Preferences.
  1. On the Basic Settings tab, select the “Color Mode” drop down menu item for Black and White, then click apply.
Note: You will notice the selected item changes in printer diagram display under auto.
  1. Your printer is now configured to print in Black and White only. When the Color Mode is set to “Black and White” all print jobs will be printed in Black and White only.
Note: You will need to complete these steps again to revert back to printing Color or Auto [Color/B&W].

Where are my Shared Folders/Network Drives located?

Accessing your Network Drives:
1.  Open Windows Explorer.
  • Right-click on the Start button and then left-click on Open Windows Explorer.
Or
  • Click on the manila folder icon in your task bar.
2.  Click on Computer.
3.  To access your shared network folders, click on Network(O): and then double-click on the DIVISION folder.
4.  To access your personal folder, double-click on "USERS" and then your_name (O:\USERS\your_name).
Creating a shortcut to your Network Drives on your Desktop:
5.  Right-click on the drive or folder that you would like to send to your Desktop as a shortcut.
6.  Place your mouse pointer over Send to.
7.  Click on Desktop (create shortcut).
8.  An icon (shortcut) will appear on your Desktop.

How do I back up my files on my computer?

You can save your files from your computer to:
  • Personal Network Storage (O:)
  • Shared Department Drive
  • Flash Drive
  • External Hard Drive
How do I copy my files over to my Personal Network Drive (O:), Shared Department Drive, Flash Drive or External Hard Drive?
1.  To access the Windows Explorer window:
  • Click on the Start button and then Computer.
or
  • Click on the Windows Explorer icon (the manila folder).
2.  Navigate to the file you would like to copy over (back up) and right-click on the name of the file.
Note: You can hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and click on multiple files to select more than one at a time.  You can also hold down the Shift key and high light multiple files by dragging the selection rectangle over them.
3.  Left-click on Copy in the menu.
4.  Find the drive on the left side of the Windows Explorer window that you would like to copy the file(s) to.  Click on the Drive name to select it.
5.  Right-click anywhere in the white space in the pane to the right of the drive name and left-click on Paste.
Note:  Make sure you are clicking on Paste and not Paste Shortcut.
6.  Verify that the file appears in the window.

How do I access my old files (B:) from my new AD computer?

We have upgraded your old hard drive, but you will still be able to access your old files for a limited time. 
Note:  This does not apply to laptops - only desktop computers.
1.  To access your old files:
  • Click on the Start button and then Computer.
or
  • Click on the Windows Explorer icon (the manila folder) and click on Computer on the left side of the window.
2.  Double-click on Old Hard Drive(B:).
3.  You will now be able to navigate through your old files (C: Drive).  While some data may be located in this location, most of the user data will be stored in the Users folder under the folder labeled with your Ozone username (firstname_lastname). 
Note: If you have a long username, the folder may be named with your last name and then your first initial. 
4.  If you receive a message that you don’t have permission to access a folder, if the computer is asking for an admin password or if you are having other issues accessing your files, please contact the Owens IT Help Desk at 567-661-7120.
5.  It is recommended that you now copy your data to your new computer.

How do I add new software from the Software Center onto my new computer?

1.  Click on the Start button and then on All Programs.
2.  Click on the Microsoft System Center folder, then on Configuration Manager and finally click on Software Center.     
 
3.  A new window will open with a list of currently available software for you to choose from.  Check the box(es) to the left of the application(s) that you would like to install on your computer.
4.  Click on the Install Selected button in the bottom right corner.
5.  The software will take you to the Installation Status tab automatically.  Here you can monitor the progress of the software install(s).  You may wish to keep this window open to monitor the installation progress, or you can close it and the install will continue in the background.
